When something or someone is completely done for, ruined beyond repair, or so unhinged it's almost impressive. From Australian slang to global Gen-Z vocabulary.
WHAT IS COOKED?
"Cooked" means something or someone is completely finished, ruined, or beyond saving. It started as Australian slang for being mentally fried or intoxicated, got picked up by gaming and esports communities to describe someone who just got absolutely destroyed, and is now mainstream Gen-Z vocabulary for anything that's gone past the point of no return. If "mid" is a passive shrug, "cooked" is the universe telling you it's over.
HOW TO USE IT
●You're done for: The classic meaning — you've failed, you're exhausted, or you're in a situation with no way out. "I just sent that text to the wrong group chat. I'm cooked."
●Someone got destroyed: Especially in gaming and esports. When a player gets outplayed so badly there's nothing left to say. "He walked into a 1v5 and got cooked."
●Something is unhinged (ironic flip): The newer evolution — when something is so wildly bold or chaotic that it loops back to being iconic. "That outfit is absolutely cooked" = it's so out there it's actually fire.
●Brain-fried state: When you've been studying, working, or doom-scrolling so long that your brain has stopped functioning. "It's 4 AM and I just laughed at a doorknob for five minutes. I'm cooked."
EXAMPLES
●"I studied for the wrong exam. Genuinely cooked."
●"That TikTok edit is so cooked I watched it eleven times."
●"He tried to freestyle at the party. He's cooked, someone get him off the mic."
●"Bro put pineapple AND anchovies on the pizza. He's cooked but honestly respect."
